LAKE ELMO, Minn. (Tartan Park GC) -- Olivia Knutson (Hatton, N.D.) carded an 11-over-par 83 Monday to lead the Bemidji State University women's golf team in the final day of the Holiday Inn & Suites/Lake Elmo Classic. The sophomore finished the 36-hole event with a 176 (+23) to tie for 29th individually. The Beavers took 13th.
Tied for 38th after a 12-over-par 84 on day one of the event, Knutson shaved a stroke from her play on day two and jumped nine spots to finish tied with five others for 29th overall with a total score of 176. The sophomore was 30 shots off the pace set by Central Oklahoma University's Bethany Darrough, who led from wire to wire to take medalist honors at two-over-par (146) and lead the Broncos to a team title. COU posted back-to-back low rounds of 301 and 307 to finish with a 631 (+32), 23 shots in front of Augustan College in second place.
Bemidji State's two-day total of 705 (374-381) put the Beavers at 129 over par and 74 shots off championship pace, but only 18 strokes out of seventh place.
BSU returns to action Sept. 21-22 when it travels to Marshall, Minn. to compete in the Mustang Invitational.
