MARSHALL, Minn. (Marshall GC) -- Olivia Knutson (So., Hatton, N.D.) and Rachel Wold (Sr., Crookston, Minn.) tied for 35th individually and led the Bemidji State University women's golf team to an 11th place finish (348-339—687) Sept. 21-22 at the Mustang Invitational, held at the Marshall Golf Club in Marshal, Minn.
Knutson bounced back from a round of 88 (+16) Saturday with a team-low 80 (+8) Sunday to finish tied with tied with three others, including Wold (86-82—168), at 24-over-par. In addition, freshman Mary Elmquist (Elk River, Minn.) was just one shot back (88-81—169) after a career-low nine-over-par 81 Sunday.
Bemidji State's two-day, 36-hole total of 687 left the Beavers 67 shots shots off the pace set by Minnesota State University, Mankato (300-320—620). The Mavericks, who finished the event at 44-over-par, ran away with the team title creating a 32-stroke cushion between them and the rest of the field.
Bemidji State returns to the Bemidji Town and Country Club Friday to host the BSU Invitational. The 18-hole event will get underway at noon.
