Elmquist bounces back for seventh at Augie Spring Invite; BSU third

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Prairie Green Golf Course) -- Mary Elmquist carded an 83 on day two of the Augustana Spring Invitational to tie for seventh individually at +21 and help the Bemidji State University women's golf team to a third-place finish.

After posting an 82 (+10) Saturday, the steady Elmquist turned in an 83 (+11) to rise four places and finish tied with Augustan College Katie Grevlos for seventh place with 165 (+21), 16 shots off the pace set by AC's Kali Trautman (70-79--149).

Augustana held down five of the top six places on the final leader board to run away with the team title. The Vikings fired rounds of 297 and 320 to finish 41-over-par (617), 50 strokes ahead of University of Sioux Falls (321-346--667) and the rest of the field.

Bemidji State finished the 36-hole event with 342-357--699 (+123).

The Beavers cap their 2014-15 season April 25-26 when they travel to Morton, Minn. and Dakota Ridge Golf Course for the final 36 holes of the split season, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. Following the first two rounds, played Oct. 4-5 at The Classic at Madden's in Nisswa, Minn. Bemidji State sits ninth, 94 strokes behind Augustana at 388-354--742 (+166). Elmquist is BSU's top individual, in 25th at 97-82--179 (+35).
