BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s golf team has been picked to finish 10th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Beavers garnered 45 points in the poll and sophomore Lauren Stockmoe was tabbed as BSU’s Golfer to Watch.
The nine-time defending NSIC Champions of Augustana University were the unanimous pick to win the NSIC in the preseason women's golf coaches' poll. The Vikings received all 11 first place votes (coaches cannot vote for their own team) and tallied 121 points to rank ahead of Minnesota State, which tallied 111 points and the other first place vote. Sioux Falls was third with 88 points while Southwest Minnesota State was fourth with 79 points.
Augustana's Hannah Hankinson was voted by the league coaches at the NSIC Women's Golf Preseason Golfer of the Year. Hankinson held the third best stroke average in the NSIC last season at 77.3 over 22 rounds. She tied for the second lowest round in the NSIC last season with a 69 during the Central Region Fall Preview.
The Beavers’ 2018-19 golf schedule will commence on Sept. 10-11 when they host the Tracy Lane Memorial Tournament at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
