BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s golf team was voted to finish seventh in the 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll announced Thursday morning. The Beavers garnered 72 points in the poll.
Senior Lauren Stockmoe was selected as the Beavers’ Preseason Golfer to Watch while University of Sioux Falls’ senior Lexi Hanson was voted by the league coaches at the NSIC Women's Golf Preseason Golfer of the Year.
Augustana University, winners of nine of the last ten NSIC Championships, was picked to win the NSIC in the preseason women's golf coaches' poll. The Vikings received six first place votes and tallied 136 points, six ahead of second place Sioux Falls. The Cougars amassed 130 points and five first place votes. The defending NSIC Champions of Minnesota State received two first place votes and 120 points to rank third.
Stockmoe returns for her senior season after having last spring and fall cut short due to COVID-19. In the fall of 2019, Stockmoe competed in five events and finished the season with an 84.3 scoring average to finish fourth on the team.
The Beavers return six letterwinners from last season to the squad in 2021 including fellow senior and twin sister of Lauren, Elise Stockmoe. The Beavers have also added two freshmen to the team in Mollie Albrecht and Maddy Sawyer.
The Beavers begin the spring season April 2-3 at the Upper Iowa Invite in Waterloo, Iowa before competing in the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb., April 11-12. Bemidji State wraps-up the spring regular season at the Augustana Invitational April 17-18 in Sioux Falls, S.D., before competing in the NSIC Championship in Morton, Minn., April 23-25.
