Beavers begin postseason play with NSIC Championship this weekend

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s golf team begins postseason play this weekend and will travel to Morton, Minn., to compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championship. 

The NSIC Women's Golf Championship will consist of a 54-hole tournament, comprised of three competition days of 18 holes each. The tournament will be held at Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton with day one beginning Friday, April 23 and continuing through Sunday.

Stroke play will determine the NSIC Champions with the team with the lowest stroke total after the 54 holes will be the NSIC Tournament Champion and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament. The five golfers with the lowest stroke total for the conference tournament will be All-Tournament Team.

Dacotah Ridge Golf Course is a 5,906-yd, par-72 course in Morton, Minn.

Entering the weekend’s championship tournament, the Bemidji State women’s golf team is ninth in the NSIC with a six-round team scoring average of 349.8 while Augustana University leads the conference with a scoring average of 321.9 in eight rounds this season. University of Sioux Falls trails with a 322.4 scoring average in 12 rounds and is led by Lexi Hanson who leads the NSIC with a 76.8 scoring average.

BSU senior Lauren Stockmoe leads the Beavers and is eighth in the conference with an 81.7 scoring average which is also the lowest of her career. She is followed by freshman Mollie Albrecht who has posted an 87.7 scoring average in her first collegiate season while junior Taiylor Ellingson follows with a scoring average of 89.2. Senior Elise Stockmoe has posted an average of 91.3 in four rounds this season while sophomore Jocelyn Nyblom in fifth on the team with an average of 92.5.
