Bemidji State receives eight votes in preseason USCHO Poll

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team received eight votes in the preseason U.S. College Hockey Online poll, released yesterday by USCHO. This marks BSU’s first appearance in the poll in the program’s five year history.

Three-time defending national champion, Minnesota-Duluth received eight first-place votes and the top overall ranking. Two other teams respresented the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in the top 10: Minnesota (No. 3) and Wisconsin (No. 6). Ohio State also received five votes in the poll.

BSU will take on four ranked teams in the 2003-04 season: No. 1 Minn.-Duluth (Oct. 17-18, Feb. 13-14), No. 10 Mercyhurst (Oct. 31-Nov.1), No. 6 Wisconsin (Nov. 7-8, Mar. 6-7) and No. 3 Minnesota (Dec. 5-6, Jan. 31-Feb.1).

The Beavers open their season this Saturday, Oct. 4 when they face the University of Manitoba in an exhibition game at 7:05 p.m., in the John Glas Fieldhouse.
