DULUTH, MINN. - Three-time defending national champion Minnesota-Duluth knocked off Bemidji State 5-0 tonight at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. The five-goal deficit is the lowest margin of victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Beavers since a 4-1 win in the 2001-02 campaign. (12-15-01).

Despite being outshot 46-14 in the game, BSU held the Bulldogs scoreless until the 7:14 mark of the second period when Jenny Potter put Minnesota-Duluth ahead 1-0.

The Bulldogs then capitalized on a Beaver penalty at the 15:37 mark as Krista McArthur beat goalkeeper Jill Luebke to open up a 2-0 lead.

Minnesota-Duluth broke the game open in the third period with goals from Larissa Luther, Jessica Koizumi, and Julianne Vasichek to solidy a 5-0 victory.

Senior Guylaine Haché led BSU with three shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jill Luebke displayed another outstanding effort in goal, compiling 41 saves, just one shy of her career best of 42 set against Ohio State during the 2002-03 season (2-28-03).

The Beavers are winless in their last 18 meetings with the Bulldogs. BSU owns a 1-7-1 overall record in Western Collegiate Hockey Association season openers.

The Beavers are now 1-1-1 overall and 0-1-0 in WCHA play. The two teams will meet for the series finale Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
