Wisconsin Completes Sweep of Bemidji State With 2-0 Victory

BEMIDJI, MINN. - The Bemidji State women’s hockey team dropped its third consecutive Western Collegiate Hockey Association series with a 2-0 setback to Wisconsin (7-3-0, 3-3-0 WCHA) this afternoon at the John Glas Fieldhouse. The Badgers are now 18-1-1 all-time against the Beavers.

The game proved to be a defensive struggle as neither team lit the scoreboard until the 15:23 mark of the second period when Wisconsin senior Meghan Hunter tallied a shorthanded goal to put the Badgers in front 1-0.

UW added an empty-net goal with less than a minute remaining in the third period to solidify a 2-0 victory.

The Badgers outshot BSU 34 to 11 for the game, including a 26-6 margin in the last two periods of the contest.

Both teams were shut out on the power play, as the Beavers finished 0-2 while UW was 0-3 on the afternoon.

Senior captain Anik Côté stopped 32 shots between the pipes for BSU and frosh Christine Dufour made 11 saves in goal for Wisconsin.

The Beavers now own a 1-8-1 overall record and an 0-6-0 mark in WCHA play. BSU will look to get back on track in a two-game set in Columbus, Ohio, against Ohio State (1-5-0, 1-5-0 WCHA) on Friday Nov. 21 and Saturday Nov. 22. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. Friday night and 4:05 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
