BEMIDJI, Minn. - Freshmen Kate Robinson (Shanty Bay, Ont.) and Jenn Sadler (Pickering, Ont.) have each earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly awards for their performances in last weekend’s series sweep of St. Cloud State, announced by the league office today. Robinson and Sadler are the first Bemidji State players to receive WCHA honors this season.

Robinson, the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, played a key role in leading BSU to 5-3 and 5-2 victories over the Huskies. In Friday’s contest, Robinson notched three points, including a game-winning goal and two assists. She added another marker in Saturday’s game, giving her two goals and two assists for four points on the weekend. Robinson is now third on the team in scoring with three goals and three assists good for six points.

Sadler, the WCHA Rookie of the Week, tallied four points in Friday’s 5-3 win, including her first collegiate hat trick and first three goals as a Beaver. In addition, Sadler provided an assist on the game-winning goal scored by Robinson. It was Sadler’s first multiple-point effort of the year and she becomes BSU’s first player to compile four points in one game during the 2003-04 campaign. Sadler has generated three goals and two assists for five points in her rookie season, placing her in a tie for fourth on the squad in scoring.

The Beavers will resume WCHA action on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10 against St. Cloud State at the National Hockey Center. The teams will drop the puck at 7:05 p.m. Friday and 2:05 p.m. Saturday.
