BEMIDJI, Minn. - Minnesota Duluth completed a series sweep of the Bemidji State women’s hockey team with a 6-0 victory Saturday night at the John Glas Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs now have an all-time record of 19-0-1 against the Beavers.

Unlike Friday night, in which UMD tallied four first period goals, the visitors lit the lamp just once in Saturday’s game. Jessica Koizumi gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at 13:10, her first of four lamplighters on the night.

UMD increased the offensive pressure in the second stanza, scoring three goals, giving them a 4-0 advantage. Koizumi and Satu Kiipeli each tallied even-strenth goals in the first two minutes of the period, while Caroline Ouellette added a power-play goal at the 15:01 mark. Senior netminder, Anik Côté prevented what could have been an even higher scoring sequence by stopping 24 shots in the first two periods of play.

Koizumi continued her offensive explosion in the final period of regulation, as she netted one even-strenth marker and one power-play tally to secure a four-goal performance for the freshman.

Senior Jenny Potter finished game two with five assists, pushing her series point total to 12 points, while Caroline Ouellette ended the weekend with nine points, after notching a goal and an assist in Saturday’s triumph.

Minnesota Duluth connected on two out of four power play chances, compared to BSU’s zero-for-six power play mark.

Côté ended her career at the John Glas Fieldhouse by making 32 saves and her season record is now 2-11-0.

Bemidji State drops to 5-24-1 overall and 3-17-0 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association competition. Minnesota Duluth improves to 15-9-2 on the season and moves into sole possession of third place in the WCHA standings with 23 points. BSU will travel to Minnesota State on Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21 for a two-game set with the Mavericks. Friday’s game is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start, while Saturday’s contest begins at 3:05 p.m.
