MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Badgers used a hat trick from Jackie Friesen and a two-goal effort from Lindsay Macy to secure a 6-0 shutout of the Bemidji State women’s hockey team this afternoon at the Kohl Center.

After holding the Badgers scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the opening period, the Beavers allowed back-to-back goals from Lindsay Macy at 15:27 and 15:34 to give UW a 2-0 advantage after one period.

Wisconsin outshot BSU 19-4 in the second stanza and extended its lead to 4-0 with markers from Jackie Friesen at 8:16 and Steph Millar at 15:17. The Badgers continued their dominance in the third period as Friesen netted one power-play tally and one even-strength goal to record a hat trick and 6-0 victory for the Badgers.

For the contest, Wisconsin outshot Bemidji State 49-14.

BSU finished the game zero-for-four on the power-play, while UW connected on one-of-three power-play chances.

Senior goalkeeper Anik Côté stopped 43 shots in the loss and her season record is now 2-13-1.

Bemidji State falls to 5-26-2 overall and 3-19-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association competition. UW improves to 23-5-3 on the season and 17-5-1 in the WCHA. The Beavers end their season against the Badgers Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
