Pullar named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday that Bemidji State sophomore forward Jessica Pullar (Elk River, Minn.) has been selected WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after she helped Bemidji State sweep the University of North Dakota with two goals and an assist on the weekend. Pullar scored the first BSU goal in Friday nights contest along with the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Beavers a 5-4 OT win. On Saturday afternoon Pullar garnered an assist to help Bemidi State to the 1-0 victory and the weekend series sweep. The award was the first of Pullar’s career. Pullar is the second Bemidji State player to earn WCHA player of the week status, sophmore goaltender Emily Brookshaw (Webster, Wis.) earned defensive player of the week on January 10, 2006 for her 28 save performance in a 2-1 victory over the University of Minnesota.

With the three point weekend Pullar moves up to sixth in scoring for the Beavers with eight goals and five assist for 13 points. Pullar leads the Beavers with three game-winning goals and six power-play goals on the season. With the two goals and an assist Pullar has know recorded seven points versus the Fighting Sioux in her career with four goals and three assists in eight games. Pullar’s performance this weekend helped Bemidji State to its first weekend series sweep since Feb. 11-12, 2005 when they swept Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn.

In addition, Pullar ranks 24th among goal scoring and is tied for fourth in power-play goal scoring with six within the WCHA.

Bemidji State will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on The Ohio State Buckeyes on Feb. 10-11. The Beavers will be looking to add to its two game win streak and will be looking for its second series sweep of the season. On Friday, Feb. 10th the game is scheduled to start at 7:07 p.m. while Saturday, Feb. 11th the puck is scheduled to drop at 4:07 p.m.
