Bemidji State women's hockey unveils 2014-15 schedule

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team released its 2014-15 schedule Wednesday. BSU is slated to play 34 games, including 28 Western Collegiate Hockey Association contests and one exhibition tilt. Of the 34 games, 14 will be played against teams that were ranked or received votes in the final national polls. The 2014-15 campaign commences with a trip to Robert Morris University, Sept. 26-27.

After opening the season against the Colonials, the Beavers will return to Bemidji for their home opener against University of Vermont, Oct. 3. The following day, BSU will face Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in another nonconference battle.

Conference play for the Beavers will begin Oct. 17-18 as they travel to The Ohio State University. BSU posted a 2-1-1 record against the Buckeyes last season, which was just the second time in school history that Bemidji State has taken the season series from OSU.

Bemidji State rounds out the month of October with a pair of series against two squads that were No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation for most of last season. BSU hosts University of Wisconsin Oct. 24-25, and will close out the month on road against national runner-up University of Minnesota, Oct. 31-Nov. 1.

Following its matchup with the Golden Gophers, Bemidji State will return home for a season-long, seven-game home stand. The Beavers will face University of North Dakota (Nov. 14-15), University of Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 28-29), Pursuit of Excellence in an exhibition (Dec. 3) and Minnesota State University, Mankato (Dec. 5-6) on the long home stay.

BSU will close out the 2014 portion of its schedule on the road against St. Cloud State University Dec. 12-13 before hosting Ohio State, Dec. 19-20.

The second half schedule begins with eight straight road games. BSU will begin 2015 with a series at Lindenwood University Jan. 2-3 to conclude the nonconference portion of the schedule. Bemidji State will then return to WCHA play the following weekend at Minnesota Duluth (Jan. 10-11), followed by road tilts against Wisconsin (Jan. 16-17) and North Dakota (Jan. 24-25).

The Beavers will make their return home Feb. 6-7 when they face St. Cloud State. BSU closes out its road schedule the following weekend at Minnesota State (Feb. 13-14) and closes out the regular season at the Sanford Center against Minnesota (Feb. 20-21).

All eight WCHA teams will play best-of-three playoff series Feb. 26-March 1 at the site of the higher-seeded team. The four winners from that weekend will play for an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament in the WCHA Final Face-Off March 6-7. Three conference champions and five at-large teams will then play for a national championship in the NCAA Tournament, beginning the following week.
