No. 9 Bemidji State plays 4-4 draw with Robert Morris; Fall in shootout 2-1

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The No. 9 Bemidji State University women's hockey team played to a 4-4 draw against Robert Morris University Saturday afternoon. The Beavers (1-0-1-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) were led by senior Hanna Moher who scored a goal and tallied two assists.

Bemidji State saw eight different student-athletes register a point in the game, including Moher and Stephanie Anderson who each recorded multiple point games.

The Beavers got off to a hot start in the game when Moher scored just 35 seconds in to the first period. BSU would tally another goal later on in the period when sophomore Alexis Joyce netted her second of the season at 12:37. The Colonials would stop BSU's scoring run after tallying a power-play goal late in the period by Mikaela Lowater, and after one, BSU held a 2-1 lead.

Robert Morris entered the second period with new legs and scored two-straight goals when Natalie Fraser netted one at 12:07, followed by Amber Rennie at 8:50. The Beavers would rally back after Kristin Huber scored a minute later to even the game at three. BSU would get the go-ahead goal from Anderson with 3:31 remaining in the second and skated into the third period with a 4-3 lead.

Both teams would skate an even period for most of the third, until Robert Morris pulled their goalie with one minute remaining, and with the extra attacker, Amber Rennie evened the score with 18 seconds left.

No team would score in the overtime period and entered a shootout to determine a winner. The Beavers capitalized on one of their opportunities but failed to match the Colonials after they scored twice in the shootout.

Bemidji State will be on the road next weekend when they travel to face the University of Vermont for another non-conference series.
