BEMIDJI, Minn. – The No. 6 Bemidji State University women’s hockey team skated to a 3-1 win, and series sweep against St. Cloud State University, Saturday. The Beavers (8-2-2, 6-2-1 WCHA) saw goals from Emily Bergland, Ciscely Nelson, and Ivana Bilic.

Defensman, Madison Hutchinson, led the Beavers with two assists in the game, while Alexis Joyce and Kristin Huber round out the Beaver scoring with one assist each.

Bemidji State opened the scoring in the game when freshman Bergland scored the first goal of her career with 18:05 left in the first period. The Huskies would tie the score in the second period when Molly Illikainen scored her fourth goal of the season while the Beavers were on the power play.

The Beavers would eventually break the tie when Nelson netted the eventual game-winner, 2:45 into the third period. Bemidji State added an insurance goal at 9:50 when Bilic beat goaltender Katie Fitzgerald on a one-timer from the blue-line while BSU had the man-advantage.

Junior Brittni Mowat continued her strong series against the Huskies by only allowing one goal and making 20 saves for her eighth win of the season.

Bemidji State will be back on the road next weekend by travelling to Ohio State University for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association match-up.
