EDINA, Minn. – Bemidji State University women’s hockey freshman Haley Mack was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week, Tuesday for her efforts last weekend. The East Grand Forks, Minn., native led the Beavers with three assists in a 6-2 victory over St. Cloud State University, Nov. 18.
For Mack, this is her first weekly award from the WCHA and she is the second Beaver to be named WCHA Player of the Week this season. Brittni Mowat earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, Oct. 11.
Mack led all freshman in the WCHA in scoring with her three assists over the weekend and tied for second with all players with three points. She also tied for the team lead by going +2 and totaled 10 shots against the Huskies.
Mack and rest of the Beavers begin a month-long road trip this weekend by traveling to Minneapolis to face second-ranked University of Minnesota in their final regular season meeting with the Gophers. Puck drop for the Saturday-Sunday series is scheduled for 2:07 p.m. for each game.
