BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Bemidji State University women’s hockey senior goaltender Erin Deters earned her first career Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly award after being named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week, Nov. 14.
Deters backstopped the Beavers (5-7-1, 3-5-0 WCHA) to a series sweep over St. Cloud State University by posting back-to-back shutouts against the Huskies.
The Sartell, Minn., native began the weekend by stopping all 20 shots by Huskies in game one followed by making 18 saves in game two. Deters was the only WCHA net-minder to not allow a goal throughout the weekend. The redshirt senior earned shutouts number two and three of the season and moved into fourth on BSU’s career shutouts list with five.
Deters is currently second in the WCHA in goals against average (1.47) and save percentage (.943) and of her three wins this season, all three have been shutouts.
Deters and rest of the Beaver squad returns home this weekend to host No. 5 Ohio State University at Sanford Center, Nov. 17-18.
