MADISON, Wis. – The Bemidji State University women’s hockey fell to No. University of Wisconsin, 5-1, Saturday night to close out the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series against the Badgers.

The Beavers (1-6-1, 0-4-0 WCHA) lone tally in the game was scored by freshman Lydia Passolt, her first career goal wearing the green and white, in the third period.

The Badgers jumped to an early lead in the game when Claudia Kepler scored just 46 seconds into the first period. Wisconsin extended its lead to 2-0 in the first period when Natalie Buchbinder scored her first goal of the season late in the period.

Wisconsin then took a 4-0 lead in the second period when Maddie Rowe and Mikaela Gardner each scored during the middle frame.

The Beavers would end the Badgers’ scoring run in the third period with Passolt’s marker 3:19 into the final period. However, the Badgers would add to their total when Kepler scored her second of the night while on a Badger power play at the 15:18 mark to seal the 5-1 victory.
