MADISON, Wis. - Bemidji State University women's hockey freshman Reece Hunt scored her first career goal to tie the game 1-1 but No. 1 University of Wisconsin followed with three unanswered goals to defeat the Beavers (3-3-1, 2-1-0-0 WCHA) 4-1 in game one of their series, Saturday.

Hunt scored her first collegiate tally and the Beavers' lone goal at 3:06 in the second period to tie the top-ranked Badgers (9-0-0, 3-0-0-0 WCHA) but Wisconsin responded 8:02 later to go up 2-1 and scored twice in the third period, including an empty-net goal, to win 4-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play.

Bemidji State was out-shot 29-12 in the game while redshirt junior Lauren Bench made 25 saves but falls to 2-2-0 on the season.

Wisconsin scored the game’s first goal off the stick of Mekenzie Steffen at 7:59 of the first period.
