BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Bemidji State University junior defenseman Mak Langei has been tabbed the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defenseman of the Week after helping the Beavers earn a series sweep at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute this past weekend.
The junior from East Grand Forks, Minn., earns her first league accolade of the 2019-20 season and the fourth of her three-year career.
Langei led all WCHA defensemen and tied for the team lead with three points off of one goal and two assists to help the Beavers earn their second consecutive road series sweep at RPI. She began the series by assisting on both goals in the Beavers 2-0 win over the Engineers, Friday and followed by scoring the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 5-1 victory. Langei also posted one point on the power play and was +3 on the ice with two shots on goal while also blocking two shots defensively.
Langei and the rest of the Beavers resume league play at home this weekend by hosting St. Cloud State University for a two-game series, Dec. 6-7.
