BEMIDJI, Minn. – Former Bemidji State University women’s hockey forward Haley Mack was selected in the fourth round of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) by the Minnesota Whitecaps Wednesday night. Mack is the first Beaver to be selected in the NWHL draft and joins former Beavers Stephanie Anderson on the Whitecaps’ roster.
Mack was selected by the Minnesota Whitecaps after leading the Beavers in points (28) and goals (15) during the 2019-20 season and ended her career fifth on BSU’s career goal scoring list with 38 goals and set a program record with five career short-handed goals. The East Grand Forks, Minn., native was a three-time Western Collegiate Hockey Association Scholar Athlete and WCHA All-Academic Team selection throughout her career.
The NWHL is a six-team, professional women’s hockey league founded in 2015 with a mission of providing strong female role models for the community while fueling the continued growth of the sport and brand of women’s hockey.
Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooden region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, BSU sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
