ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State University has paused all women’s ice hockey team activities for at least the week of Nov. 15 due to several positive COVID-19 tests within the Huskies’ program and as a result, the Bemidji State University women’s hockey opening series at St. Cloud State has been postponed. No make-up dates have been set at this time.
“I share the disappointment being felt by the student-athletes and coaches at both St. Cloud State and Bemidji State,” WCHA Women’s League Commissioner Jennifer Flowers said. “The first priority of the WCHA and our member institutions has always been the health and well-being of everyone associated with our seven programs. St. Cloud State continues to follow local, state, NCAA and WCHA guidelines regarding COVID-19 testing and tracking and we hope to see them back on the ice soon.”
The Bemidji State women’s hockey team’s next scheduled series is Dec. 4-5 and will host Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooden region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, BSU sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
