WINONA, Minn. -- Winona State University scored in the 64th minute to break a scoreless tie and that was all the offense it would need as the Warriors held the Bemidji State University soccer team to just two shots on goal Friday in a 1-0 victory.
The victory marks WSU's seventh consecutive win and the fifth time in its last six outings that the stout Warrior defense has held an opponent scoreless.
WSU's goal came off the head of Rebecca McCoy on a Jennifer DeRoo corner kick.
Junior goalkeeper Sonja Barr (Duluth, Minn.) stopped seven of eight shots faced in the match and falls to 6-2-0 on the season.
Bemidji State, now 9-4 overall and 6-4 in NSIC play, travels to Fayette, Iowa Sunday to battle Upper Iowa University. The league match up is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
