BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- Miranda Famestad (M, Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career to help the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Wayne State College on Senior Day Sunday at Chet Anderson Stadium.
In addition to Famestad's career-high two-goal day, sophomore Sarah Stram (F, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) posted a goal and two assists, while Raquel Thelen (Fr., F, Andover, Minn.) added a goal and an assist in the BSU win.
For the second straight game, Bayley Ertl (F, So., North Branch, Minn.) got the Beavers on the board first. Ertl's second goal of the season came in the sixth minute and BSU would not look back. Famestad scored her first goal of the game in the 29th minute to put BSU up 2-0 at halftime and would add her second in the 51st minute. Kelsea Lambert trickled a goal into the net to get WSC on the board in the 56th minute, BSU answered with back-to-back goals Thelen and Stram in the final 10 minutes of play to power through to the 5-1 victory.
BSU out shot the Wildcats 23-8 in the game with an 11-4 edge in shots on goal.
BSU goalkeeper Sonja Barr (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) made three save to capture her third win of the season. She improves to 3-5-0.
With the win, BSU halts a four-game losing skid and improved to 4-6-0 overall and 3-4-0 in NSIC play.
The Beavers now return to the road for a 1 p.m. match up at Southwest Minnesota State University Oct. 11.
