Concordia-St. Paul scores in 40th minute to drop BSU, 1-0

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- The Bemidji State University soccer team outplayed Concordia University-St. Paul Sunday at Chet Anderson Stadium, but the Golden Bears got the only goal of the match and stole a 1-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory.

The loss stretches the Beavers losing skid to three matches as BSU falls to 5-3-0 on the season and 2-3-0 in league play.

CSP came out with a spark in the first half and in the 40th minute Taryn MacMillan beat the BSU goalkeeper Anna Fobbe for what would be the only goal of the afternoon.

In the second half, BSU began to press and began to get the chances it needed, but was unable to find the back of the net.

Bemidji State finished the match with a 14-11 edge in shots, out shooting CSP 12-4 in the second half, registering a 7-5 advantage on shots on goal.

Fobbe made for saves on five shots face, while her counterpart, Emma Gatner stopped all seven of BSU’s shots on goal to post a shutout.

BSU now hits the road for its first NSIC road trip of the season. BSU will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to face Augustana University at 11 a.m. Saturday before a trip to Wayne, Neb. for a 1 p.m. match up with Wayne State College Sunday.
