MINOT, N.D. (Herb Parker Stadium) -- Minot State University scored twice during a seven-minute stretch late in the first half and rode the scoring spurt to a 3-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinal victory over the Bemidji State University soccer team Wednesday in Minot, N.D.
The loss ends BSU's 2015 NSIC Tournament run and its season at 11-7-1.
Locked in a 0-0 tie for the first 31 minutes of play, Ninfa Ramirez netted her 15th goal of the season to give Minot State the first lead of the match. Ramirez assisted on a goal by Taryn Love in the 38th minute to send MSU into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Bemidji State trimmed the MSU lead to one goal, 2-1, in the 66th minute. Miranda Famestad scored her third goal of the season on a free kick placed into the lower left corner of the net, just out of the reach of Minot State goalkeeper, Celene Johnson. But that was all the offense BSU could muster.
Bemidji State applied pressure late, but MSU would put the game out of reach in the 76th minute when Emilie Robelo collected the ball in front of the goal off a corner kick and found the back of the net to put Minot State up 3-1.
BSU’s Anna Fobbe posted four saves on seven shots faced. Her record dips to 8-7-1 on the season.
