WAYNE, Neb. -- Junior goalkeeper Catherine Arneson stopped all seven shots she faced and Raquel Thelen, Allie Erickson and Emma Brechlin scored goals to lead the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Wayne State College Sunday.
The victory allowed the Beavers to finish their weekend road trip 1-1.
Thelen led all players netting a goal and an assist in the match. She got the Beavers on the board in the 28th minute when she took a shot from the top of the box and buried it into the top left corner. She added her team-leading 11th helper of 2016, when she connected a cross with Erickson for a header in the 63rd minute, matching Jamie Ford (2010-11) for most assists in a season since 2002.
Emma Brechlin finished BSU's scoring effort in the 83rd minute, tapping in her second goal of the season on a crossing pass from Bayley Ertl.
Arneson's second solo shutout of the season helped her improved to 5-1-0. BSU now has five shututs in 2016.
The Beavers, now 10-4 overall and 8-3 in NSIC play, return to Chet Anderson Stadium and Bemidji, Minn. next weekend. BSU will host Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. Saturday and the University of Sioux Falls at 1 p.m. Sunday for the team's Senior Day.
