Norton's four-point night leads BSU to eighth straight win

ST. PAUL, Minn. (SeaFoam Stadium) -- On a night when the Bemidji State University soccer team needed just one goal, it got three and used a 3-0 victory over Concordia-University-St. Paul to improve to 8-0-0 on the season and remain perfect (6-0-0) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

Rachael Norton continued to set the tone for the Beavers' offense, netting the game-winning goal and a pair of assists, while Melanie Peltier netted her first goal of the season and Allyson Smith scored late in the game to notch her third goal of 2017. Norton's four-point night was her fourth of the season and her two assists matched a career-high.

The victory marked BSU's eighth consecutive victory to open the season, marking an extension of a record for longest wining streak in program history.

Norton got the scoring started in the 36th minute when she took a feed from Antonia Bailey for her team- and league-leading seventh goal of the season.  Peltier added her first goal before the first have ended and Smith's insurance strike came in the 55th minute.

Arneson finished the night with five saves in 90 minutes of action. She improved to 4-0-0 on the season and has four shutouts.  She has yet to allow a goal this season, pushing her shutout streak to 405 minutes.

BSU will be back in action at 1 p.m. Sunday when it travels to Mankato, Minn. to battle NSIC rival Minnesota State University, Mankato.
