SIOUX Falls, S.D. (Morstad Field) -- The No. 3 Bemidji State University Soccer Team out shot Augustana University 33-16, but was unable to find the back of the net and the teams settled for a double overtime draw.
The Beavers remian unbeaten after thier first draw of the season. BSU moves to 15-0-1 overall and 12-0-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
The Beavers and Vikings went head-to-head for the bulk of the first half, but with the score tied 0-0, Augie packed it in to play for the draw.
During the final 45 minutes of play, the Beavers out shot AU 19-5. While BSU held the ball and pressured the Vikings for the entire half, they managed only 4-0 edge in shots on goal as Augie kept the Beavers offense at bay.
The Vikings shifted focus in the first overtime, as the pressed the Beavers and tested goalkeeper Anna Fobbe. AU logged three shots on goal in the 10-minute frame, but the senior stood tall and pushed the match to the second overtime period.
The Teams traded blows in the second overtime. BSU was the only team to record a shot on goal, but it was denied and time expired.
Fobbe finished the match with eight saves in her program record ninth shutout of the season. She moves to 15-0-1 on the season.
Dating back to last season and through a 0-0 scoreless tie in the NCAA Tournament and a 1-0 loss in the NSIC Tournament, BSU is now without a goal versus the Vikings in 376 minutes.
