KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The unbeaten Bemidji State University Soccer Team remained ranked among the nation’s top 25 NCAA Division II teams in the country in this week’s United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II poll. Making its eighth consecutive appearance in the weekly poll, the Beavers jumped four spots to the No. 4 position.
The No. 4 ranking is just one spot down from the Beavers’ highest ranking of all time, Oct. 16, 2018, and is the Beavers’ 13th appearance in the poll all-time following a five-week run among in the top 25 to cap the 2017 regular season.
The Beavers are joined in the top 25 by Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member Minnesota State University, Mankato (15-2-1; 13-1-1 NSIC), which checks in at No. 21 for the second straight week.
Regionally, BSU sits at No. 1 in the Central Region Poll, up one spot, after one week at the region’s No. 2 team.
The NCAA will publish its third regional poll tomorrow (Oct. 31). At the conclusion of the season, the top eight teams from each region advance to the regional tournament, which is hosted by the two highest remaining seeds, Nov. 9 and 11. The NCAA will officially announce advancing teams at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5 as a part of its online selection show at NCAA.com.
The Central Region is made up the NSIC, the Mid-America Conference and the Great American Conference.
The Beavers, now 17-0-1 overall and 14-0-1 in league play, clinched its first NSIC regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. BSU will host the No. 8 seed University of Mary tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium.
