St. Cloud State scratches Bemidji State out of NSIC Tournament, 1-0

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- Jenna Dominguez scored in the 49th minute of play to give St. Cloud State University a 1-0 lead and the Huskies rode that lead into the semifinal round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Tournament ending Bemidji State University's season at 12-6-1.

The teams went two-to-toe from the opening kick to the final horn on a frozen and snow-dusted Chet Anderson Stadium. Although the shots were even at 11-1, SCSU held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.

The Beavers pressed in the second half and untimely changed formation to attempt to apply extra offensive pressure. BSU finished the game with holding possession for 61-percent of the game, but was unable to generate significant quality scoring chances or to find the back of the net.

Emma Reidi was between the posts for the Beavers. She turned aside six of the seven shots she faced.

The loss also drew to a close the collegiate careers of six BSU student-athletes. Antonia Bailey, Sidney Bethke, Emily Kos, Tia Neuharth, Melanie Pelteir and Skylar Prentice have been at Bemidji State for 59 wins (.788), the program's first two NCAA Tournament appearances, BSU first NCAA tournament win, the team's first NSIC regular-season title and finished their careers having won29 consecutive regular-season home matches.

The Huskies will advance to the semifinal round of the NSIC Tournament and will face Concordia University St. Paul in St. Paul, Minn. Friday. The winner will advance to the conference tournament championship match for a shot at an automatic berth inot the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
