BSU falls to No. 35 Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Bemidji State University tennis team fell 9-0 to No. 35 Augustana College on Saturday night in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Beavers fall to 1-6 on the season. Augustana, the No. 1 ranked team in the Central region, improves to 8-0 on the season.

Augustana College swept BSU in doubles to get out to the early 3-0 lead over the Beavers. At No. 1 doubles, the Vikings' Brittany Gaster and Kathrynn Jesperson defeated Kara Johnson (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) and Kelli Christiansen (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.), 8-3. Johnson and Christiansen fell to 0-7 on the season. At the No. 2 slot, Michelle Wadas and Hannah Gebauer upended Miranda Milless (Jr., Motley, Minn.) and Meg Hafdahl (So., Virginia, Minn.), 8-2. The BSU pair falls to 2-4 in doubles on the year. At the No. 3 spot, Emily Johnson and Gabrielle Kachena defeated Britney Greenwaldt (Jr., Morris, Minn.) and Katherine Wolak (Jr., Geneseo, Ill.), 8-1. Greenwaldt and Wolak's record drops to 3-3 on the year.

In singles, Gaster upended Johnson, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 1 singles. Johnson's record now stands at 0-7 on the year. At the No. 2 slot, Greenwaldt fell to Jesperson, 6-0, 6-1. Greenwald's mark now stands at 1-6 for the year. At No. 3 singles, Wadas won over Christiansen, 6-2, 6-0. Christiansen's mark falls to 2-5. Gebauer defeated Milless at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Milless falls to 0-7 in singles on the year. At No. 5 singles, Hafdahl fell to 3-4 on the year with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Jill Hagestuen. At No. 6 singles, Wolak fell to Johnson, 6-0, 6-0. Wolak's record falls to 4-3 on the year.
