BSU falls to Upper Iowa 8-1

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University tennis team fell 8-1 to Upper Iowa University Saturday in Owatonna, Minn. The Beavers fall to 1-9 on the season. The Peacocks improve to 8-5 on the season.

Meg Hafdahl (So., Virginia, Minn.) picked up the lone singles or doubles win for the Beavers on the weekend with 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 position to improve to 4-5 on the season.

In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Kara Johnson (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) and Kelli Christiansen (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) dropped a match 8-1. Johnson and Christiansen fall to 0-9 on the season.

At the No. 2 spot, Miranda Milless (Jr., Motley, Minn.) and Hafdal lost 8-1 to their Upper Iowa foes. The pair falls to 2-5 in doubles on the season.

At No. 3 doubles, Britney Greenwaldt (Jr., Morris, Minn.) and Katherine Wolak (Jr., Geneseo, Ill.) fell 8-2. The BSU duo is 4-4 in doubles in 2011.

In singles, Johnson fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to fall to 0-9 in singles on the year.

At the No. 2 slot, Greenwaldt was upended 6-0, 6-0. Her record now stands at 2-7 on the season.

At No. 3 singles, Christiansen lost 6-0, 6-1 to drop to 2-7 in singles on the year.

At the No. 4 slot, Milless fell 6-0, 6-0. Milless is 0-9 in singles opn the year.

At No. 6 singles, Wolak lost 6-1, 6-1. The BSU netter is 4-5 so far this season.

Bemidji State will return to action against University of Minnesota Duluth March 23 in Duluth, Minn. BSU's lone win on the season came against the Bulldogs Feb. 20 in Bemidji.
