BSU Track & Field starts 2021 indoor season with Craig Hougen Triangular

The Bemidji State University track & field program will begin the 2021 indoor season at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 while hosting the Craig Hougen Triangular. BSU will host St. Cloud State University and Winona State University at the Gillett Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn.


Bemidji State Track & Field selected 10th in NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Bemidji State University indoor track & field has been picked to finish 10th overall as the 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll was revealed. Junior hurdler Faith Beck was tabbed the team’s Track Athlete to Watch while junior thrower Zoe Christensen was named the team’s Field Athlete to Watch.


Track & Field announces two student-athletes to 2021-22 signing class

Bemidji State University track & field head coach Kevin Kean announced the addition of jumper and sprinter Mikaela Malone and multi-event athlete Maryse Mbenoun on National Signing Day. Malone will join the program beginning with the 2021-22 season while Mbenoun will join at the beginning of the spring semester in January 2021.

NSIC cancels 2020 spring conference competition and championships

Two records fall as Track and Field completes two-meet weekend

Sophomore Venice Stewart and freshman Ryne Prigge continued the recent trend of breaking Bemidji State University indoor track and field records as the team completed its two-meet weekend at the Bison Open and the Lake Superior Challenge. The record-breaking marks in the 300-meter dash by Stewart and the 1,000m run by Prigge were two of 13 personal records set Friday and Saturday.


BSU to compete at Bison Open and Lake Superior Challenge in full weekend

The Bemidji State University track and field team will send student-athletes to the Bison Open Feb. 1-2 and the Lake Superior Challenge Feb. 2 as part of a two-day meet weekend. The Beavers will compete in both track and field events Friday and Saturday in Fargo, N.D., while the throwers will head to Duluth, Minn., Saturday to compete.


Stewart and 4x400m relay records highlight successful UND Indoor Open

Sophomore Venice Stewart and the 4x400-meter relay team highlighted a successful showing for the Bemidji State University women’s track and field team Saturday at the UND Indoor Open as two program records were broken. Stewart broke her previous BSU record in the 60m dash while hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying marks.


Track and Field aim to continue success at UND Indoor Open

The 2019 schedule continues for the Bemidji State University track and field program with a trip across Highway 2 to take part in the University of North Dakota Indoor Open Jan. 26 in Grand Forks, N.D. Cross Country, Track and Field add distance runner to 2018 signing class

The Bemidji State University cross country and track and field head coach Kevin Kean has announced the addition of distance runner Jasmine Rascon to the program’s 21018-19 signing class. Rascon will run for both programs after signing a National Letter of Intent to join BSU next fall.

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team saw multiple program records fall Saturday afternoon as the team competed at the Twin Ports Invite in Superior, Wis. The Bemidji State University track and field program returns to indoor action Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Twin Ports Invite hosted by University of Wisconsin-Superior. The meet begins at 11 a.m. with field events followed at 12 p.m. with running events at Lydia Thering Fieldhouse.


Two more added to 2018-19 Beaver Track and Field signing class

Bemidji State University track and field head coach Kevin Kean announced the addition of two more student-athletes to the 2018-19 signing class in Janice Cole and Emma Realing. The two additions in spritns and distance bring the Beavers’ class to eight, all of which will join the program in the fall of 2019.

Benson took third in the event while senior Kelsey Hurley won the 200-meter dash to help the Beavers to a fourth-place finish as a team.

Division II ADA names 43 Bemidji State Academic Achievement Award recipients

Bemidji State University totaled 43 student-athletes who were named as 2017-18 Division II Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Academic Achievement Award recipients, as released by the DII ADA Thursday. All 13 of the Beavers’ Division II programs were represented among the award winners.


Beaver Track and Field earns academic honor from USTFCCCA

Seven individuals, team to be inducted into Bemidji State Athletic Hall of Fame

Former Bemidji State student-athletes Denis Lemieux (men’s hockey 1968-72), Len Rothlisberger (men’s swimming 1968-72), Rich Schwartz (football 1981-85), Karen (Morrissey) Stellrecht (women’s basketball 1993-97) and Andrea (Block) Zenner (softball 1998-2001) will be inducted into the Alumni B Club Athletic Hall of Fame Feb. 16. They will be joined by Alumni Coaching Achievement Award recipient Wynn Gmitroski (1982) and the BSU Coaches Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Muriel Gilman. In addition, Bemidji State’s 1992 women’s cross-country ski team will be enshrined into its Team Hall of Fame.


Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament set for June 15

The 41st Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Friday, June 15 at Bemidji Town and Country Club and it’s not too late to participate. Registration materials are now being accepted for the event to benefit the Bemidji State Athletic Scholarship Fund.

Green and White Dinner and Auction nets nearly $100,000 for BSU Athletics

More than 400 attendees and 140 Bemidji State University student-athletes gathered at Sanford Center Saturday night for the Green & White Dinner and Auction to Benefit BSU Athletics. Net proceeds from registration, silent and live auction items, as well as other activities, totaled more than $98,000 and included individual donations totaling $32,600 to “Build a Scholarship.”

SAC Relays held at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. The annual Mt. Weekend full of track and field events planned for Jan. 18-19

The Bemidji State University track and field team will get its 2013 indoor season in full motion this weekend when it hosts the BSU Multi and Super 8 Open at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center. The BSU Multi will get underway at 5 p.m. Friday with the nine-team Super 8 Open will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The All-America sprinter posted a season-best 12.41 en route to taking first place and establishing a new Host Invitational record in the 100-meter dash. Buerkle's top five finish was one of the nine for the Beavers in the meet.

Led by a record-breaking sprint performance by Kristi Buerkle and a dominant showing the throwing events, the Bemidji State University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams each finished third at the North Country Invitational today at Griggs Field in Duluth, Minn.

The announcement came today as the league office unveiled the 2010 Preseason Outdoor Coaches’ Polls. The Beaver men’s and women’s teams were each picked to finish 10th.

Zac Preble (Sr., Coleraine, Minn.) captured his fourth consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) heptathlon title Monday with a school and conference record 5,245 points. The senior now ranks as the top multi event athlete in the country, automatically qualifying for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Bemidji State names Ben Baird Assistant Track and Field Coach

Bemidji State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb today announced the addition of Benjamin Baird to the track and field coaching staff. Baird will serve as the assistant track and field coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at the University.
