Schreiber Wins NSIC Track Athlete of the Week; Sets School-Best Mark 6’10 3/4”; Ranked 11th in Country

Bemidji, Minn. - In breaking his own Bemidji State high jump record with a leap of 6’10 3/4” at the Ron Masanz Open on Saturday, sophomore Steve Schreiber (Chisago Lakes, Minn.) was named NSIC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. The 11th-best high jumper in NCAA Division II is provisionally qualified for the DII Championships as well. Schreiber has now taken five high jump titles in the spring season after he set a then program-best jump of 6’9 1/2” at the Duncan Invitational, April 13. He has bettered 6’8” in five meets this spring, including his last four invitationals.

Last week, junior Caesare Stimson (Chisago Lakes, Minn.) won female track honors after her second consecutive league heptathlon title.

The Beavers wrap up their outdoor campaign with an appearance at the NSIC Outdoor Championships held at the Ron Masanz Track and Alex Nemzek Stadium in Moorhead, Minn. MSU Moorhead hosts the event, which begins Friday and ends on Saturday.
