Track Squads Run in Super 8 Open This Saturday; Event Begins at 1:00 p.m. at Gillette Recreation Center

BEMIDJI, MINN. -- The Bemidji State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will host the BSU Pentathlon and Super 8 Open, Jan. 23-24 at the Gillett Recreation Fitness Center. Approximately 15-20 athletes will compete at the BSU Pentathlon this Friday. Meanwhile, eight schools are expected to appear at the Super 8 on Saturday.

Three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference programs (Bemidji State, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, Moorhead), three North Central Conference schools (North Dakota State, North Dakota and St. Cloud State), Jamestown, an NAIA member of the Dakota Athletic Conference and Lakehead University out of Thunder Bay, Ont., will all make up the field at the Super 8 Open.

“This is a very high quality meet,” said Hougen. “It will make ourselves better for the future when we are competing against just the NSIC schools.

“We always qualify 35-40 people (between all the schools) in this meet for national competition. There are definitely some very good athletes here.”
