ABERDEEN. S.D. - [women's results] [men's results] - Freshman Ashley Spolarich (Maple Lake, Minn.) combined a first place finish in the high jump (5-4 1/2), a second in the 800-meter run (2:24.54) and a third place finish in the long jump (16-2 1/2) to help her capture third place overall in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s women’s pentathlon hosted by Northern State University on Sunday.

Spolarich grabbed six team points in the effort to help her team as they head into the NSIC indoor championships on Jan. 25-26. She also competed in the 55-meter hurdles finishing sixth with a time of 9.47 and came in seventh in the shot put with a toss of 22-9 1/4.

Freshman Angela Miller (Grove City, Minn.) finished the competition in seventh place.

After four events in the men’s heptathlon, senior Rob Kucher (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) sits in fourth place followed closely by senior Ben Mettling (Pine City, Minn.) who sits in fifth place.

The men’s heptathlon wraps up on Monday.

The rest of the BSU men’s and women’s track team will have one more opportunity to fine tune themselves before the NSIC indoor meet (Feb. 25-26) as the Beavers host their annual Beaver Classic on Friday (Feb. 18) at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center.
