Devine, Williams claim NSIC Field Athlete of the Week honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced today that Bemidji State's Rodney Williams and Sheena Devine have been named the leagues Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D., on Saturday.

The award is the second of the year for Williams, who is being honored for his performances in the long jump and the triple jump. Williams won the long jump on Saturday with his league-leading leap of 23-2 1/2. He also picked up a second place finish in the triple jump. His distance of 45-7 1/4 in the event currently leads the NSIC.

For Devine, the honor is her second during the outdoor season and her third career award in just her first season with Bemidji State. Devine won the shot put at the Bison Classic with her put of 47-4 1/4 and currently leads the league in the event. Along with leading the NSIC, Devine currently ranks sixth in the nation among Division II athletes. She also collected a sixth place finish in the hammer throw (134-8) to lead the way for Bemidji State.

The Beavers will next be in action as they compete in both the Drake Relays and the Al Cassel Relays on Friday and Saturday.
