Bemidji State to hosts Super 8 Open this weekend

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University track and field teams jump back into the 2008 indoor season this weekend when they to host the Super 8 Open at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center. The event, which includes a full meet as well as a multi event contest, is set to begin on Friday evening with a continuation into Saturday.

Friday has been set aside for the multi event participants. The schedule will begin with the women's 55-meter hurdles at 7 p.m. and roll through the remainder of the events at 30-minute intervals. Three men's events (pole vault, 55-meter high hurdles and 1,000-meter run), will be held in conjunction with the Super 8 Open Saturday afternoon. The Super 8 Open will begin at 1 p.m. with the men's pole vault kicking off the field events and the gun sounding for the women's distance medley relay. The open is scheduled to continue through 5:40 p.m. when the men's 4x400-meter relay teams will take to the track in the final event of the 2008 open.

A total of eight teams are expected to be in attendance for the event including: Minot State University, Jamestown College, University of Minnesota Duluth, University of Wisconsin-Superior, University of Mary, University of North Dakota, Minnesota State University Moorhead, College of St. Scholastica and BSU.
