BEMIDJI , Minn. --  Nearly 80 former Bemidji State University track and field athletes laced up their old track shoes Saturday to participate in the seventh-annual Alumni Meet held at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center. The meet matched the freshman, upperclassmen, and “Oldy Moldy Green” teams against eachother in a triangular format.

The women’s team was led by strong performances from M’kelle Tomberlin who won the long jump with a distance of 17-07.00. Tomberlin also had a strong showing in the running events placing second in the 55-meter (7.60) and 200-meter (27.84) dashes. All-American thrower Sheena Devine took home first place finishes in the shot put (48-07) and the weight throw (50-02). Another former BSU great Caesare Stimson padded “The Oldy Moldy Green” teams score finishing first in the high jump with a jump of (5-00).

All-American thrower Joe Remitz flourished again in his former home throwing circle placing first in the shot put (58-01), and weight throw (57-03). Alum Kenny Miller also had a strong showing winning the mile run in an astonishing (4:35.12). Miller also provided his team with a first place finish in the 800-meter (2:06.63) run. Dan Frette helped secure a victory for the “Oldy Moldy Green” by winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of (8.18).

Former BSU track athletes showed up in large numbers and proved to be too much for the upperclassmen and freshman squads to handle.
