BEMIDJI, Minn. – The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which broadcasts on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature Bemidji State University men's and women's track and field. BSU head coach Criag Hougen will be on the show to discuss the upcoming Super 8 Meet held this weekend at BSU.
The Beavers competed in the Ninth Annual Alumni Meet Jan. 8. Members of the current Beaver squad captured eight event titles including the men's 4x400 meter relay. Sam Bolferding (Sr., Marshall, Minn.) captured the men's 200 meter dash and Jacob Nelson (Fr., Pierz, Minn.) won the title for the 60 meter dash. Brian Leonhardt (RS-Sr. Blaine, Minn.) was listed as unattached for the meet and won the title for men's weight throw (16.33m). Kristi Buerkle (Sr., Stacy, Minn.) and Taylor Sautbine (So., Tamarack, Minn.) paced the women's track and field squad with two event titles. Buerkle took first in the women's 200 meter dash (27.02) and the 400 meter dash (57.33). Sautbine took first in the women's 60 meter hurdles (9.81) and the triple jump (9.93m).
An interview with Sautbine and interviews from this week’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, Colleen McKay (Sr., C, 6-0, Barnum, Minn.) and
James Ellisor (Jr., F, 6-5, 195, Glendale, Ariz.) will
also air.
This is the 10th Anniversary Season of Sports in the Round, with all ten
