Crummy and Turner lead Beavers at BSU Twilight

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center) – Nicole Crummy, Emily Turner, and the 4x400 relay team all captured first place finishes to lead the Bemidji State University track and field team at the BSU Twilight Friday afternoon at Gillett Recration-Fitness Center.

Crummy placed first in the 800-Meter run with a time of 2:24.50. Turner finished first in the mile run with a time of 5:43.03, finishing more than ten seconds in front of her closest competitor.  The team of Sara Melom, Crummy, Morgan Beattie, and Turner sprinted into a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.

Additionally, several other Beavers finished near the top in their respective events.

Jolynne Denman was second in the mile run with a career-best time of 5:57.83.

Chloe Miller posted a career-best time in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in second with a time of 9.56. Nikki Anderson was close right behind, taking third with a time of 9.69.

Melom recorded a third place finish in the high jump (4-10.25).

Ciara Brewster had a throw of 39-05.75 to finish in fifth place in the shot put.

Next weekend, the Beavers wrap up their indoor season as they travel to Mankato, Minn. Feb. 26 to compete in the NSIC Indoor Championships. Events are set to get begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27.

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
