MANKATO, Minn. (Myers Fieldhouse) – Emeline Sevila broke her previous indoor pentathlon school record with 3,517 points at the NSIC Multis Championship women’s pentathlon in Mankato, Minn. Sunday on the campus of Minnesota State, Mankato.
Sevila originally broke the BSU indoor pentathlon record at the MSU Multi Jan. 22 with a score of 3,212.
Excelling in all events of the pentathlon, Sevila placed fifth as she set personal-best scores in all five of the pentathlon events including the 60-meter hurdles (9.14), high jump (5.0.25), shot put (35.03.75), long jump (18-01.50) and the 800-meter run (2:29.75). Sevila’s top finishes came in the shot put and the long jump, as she was the runner-up in each event.
Also competing in the pentathlon was Freshman Christa Benson. Benson set personal-bests in the 60-meter hurdles, the shot put and the 800-meter run.
Next Friday Bemidji State returns home to host the BSU Twilight at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center. Events are set to get underway at 5 p.m.
